Thursday Ratings: How to Get Away with Murder Rises for Winter Finale

Here are the ratings for Thursday, November 19th. Half-hours noted where not steady.

ABC

Grey's Anatomy: 2.5 (2.4/2.6)
Scandal: 2.4 (2.4/2.4)
How to Get Away with Murder: 2.3 (2.4/2.2)

ABC saw great winter finale's from TGIT compared to last week, with Grey's Anatomy rising three tenths, Scandal two, and How to Get Away with Murder four. Grey's is actually UP from last season's winter finale, a rarity in these days especially considering its age. Meanwhile, Scandal and Murder both had a 3.1 last season and have shown major declines. Despite this, they are still some of ABC's highest-rated shows.

CBS
The Big Bang Theory: 3.8
Life in Pieces: 2.0
Mom: 1.8
2 Broke Girls: 1.9
Elementary: 1.0 (1.1/1.0)

CBS saw its comedy lineup rise, with Big Bang Theory up a tenth and Life in Pieces back to 2.0 territory. Mom and 2 Broke Girls also rose three tenths from their last airings, but I'm not sure if there was a football preemption. If that's the case, then the shows may actually end up being down from last week. Stay tuned.

FOX

Bones: 1.0
Sleepy Hollow: 0.8

Nothing new for FOX this Thursday, which saw Bones and Sleepy Hollow down a tenth from last week. Both are performing very poorly and I'm starting to wonder if FOX really does have bigger fish to fry than Bones. It's been waiting patiently for its sawn song for a few years now, at least in raw ratings. On the bright side, Sleepy Hollow's 0.8 is still a slight improvement on the time slot from last season.

NBC

Heroes Reborn: 1.1
The Blacklist: 1.5 (1.5/1.4)
The Player: 0.8

Heroes Reborn, though even from last week, is not proving to be working out for NBC. It's decline in raw numbers puts even more legitimacy to SpottedRatings' estimation of what a show's number would look like if it aired today. Though the show went out with high 1s-low 2s, you can't really expect a show not named The Middle to still be doing the same numbers six years later. Also, it has made no improvement upon the presumably much cheaper Biggest Loser. Following the Heroes revival was The Blacklist, which at the very least was stable with last week's airing, and The Player, up a tenth from last week but down five from last season's Parenthood.

The CW

The Vampire Diaries: 0.5
The Originals: 0.4 (0.4/0.3)

Finally, on The CW, it's becoming more clear that The Vampire Diaries is on its way out now that the vampire-crazed teens and tweens from when the show started have grown into young adulthood. It's down three tenths from last season, a very sizable margin when we're talking about The CW. The Originals is also doing OK at best--can they really save The Originals, Reign, AND Jane the Virgin. Many say that syndication will say it but I'm not so sure of a station that is willing to pick up reruns of a show that typically posts 0.4s in first-runs. We'll have to see.
