Epworth

Woke up to a little bit of blue sky and sunshine this morning and after an hour of taking down the Christmas decorations we decided to make the most of the day and go for a little walk round Epworth. We had just stepped out of the car when the church bells struck midday so we walked up the little lane and took some photographs of the church.

Picture taken from the back, the monument you can see has been there since 1806 and its such shiny marble it looks brand new.
Walk down the path and through the posts and you get onto a lane with superb views of open countryside. If it had been a perfectly clear day you could see for miles.
This was my hubby fiddling with the GPS on his phone, while I took a couple of photos with my rather aincient sony camera, no new technology for me!
You can just about make out the wind turbines near Normanby Hall
This is a little further round and looking towards Scunthorpe.  It was quite nippy in the open so we headed off back into the town.  The shops were closed with it being bank holiday but we have promised to go and have a look in a couple of weeks. It is quite a bustling place during the week with lots of nice individual shops they also have a co op a couple of bakers a very nice Deli with a cafe (must try that one) and a couple of pubs.  We called at a farm selling eggs from the gate at £2 per dozen, who can resist a fresh free range egg for lunch.......mmmmm.......

Back home and the sun  has gone and its started getting cold so the heating is on and its cosy and warm.

Thank you for looking

Karen xx
